         Brook Theories:

          His Categories of Theatre:

       Deadly Theatre:

         - all theatre driven by the needs of commercialism

         - theatre that tries to follow a set of rules (bad acting, bad directing)

   - 'dead theatre is alive but in the wrong way'

·         Holy Theatre:

-which explores abstracts notions and ideas that are developed into something much more concrete.

- a theatre limited to itself

- transcends ordinary life (too narrow or too limited)

·         Rough Theatre:

-which is experimental theatre that is meant to evoke social change by examining certain aspects of life that are not traditionally looked at.

      - popular that doesn't happen in a formal theatre building

      - source of the most renaissances in drama throughout history

·         Immediate Theatre

-which is regarded as standard theatre that incorporates elements of traditions as well as things that are deemed popular today

-where actor are like mediums, totally in the moment

     - when the actor is translating feelings and impressions to the audience who are carried along in the moment with them
